Hall of Fame Classic Weekend in Cooperstown

The day after the Scranton game I drove the 2.5 hrs to Cooperstown. I spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning in Cooperstown. There are many chances to get autographs during the weekend. The hotel, after the  kids clinic, outside and inside the stadium at the Classic and then during the Golf outing on Sunday morning. The whole thing is a crap shoot and players were signing at different places at once. During the 3 days I was able to get the following
Bengie Molina, 8x10. Bengie signed as a free agent in 1993 by the Angels and had a 13 yr major league career with the Angels, Jays, Giants and Rangers. Bengie was a 2x Gold Glove winner as a catcher
Robin Yount, Hof Ball and 8x10, Robin was a 1st rd pick in 1973 by the Brewers, 3rd overall. Robin spent 20 years with the Brewers. Robin played SS, 1st base, Left and Center field and later in his career as a DH. Robin was a 3x All-Star, 3x Silver Slugger, 2x American League MVP 1982 & 1989 and was inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
Tom Glavine, Hof Ball and 8x10. Tom was a 2nd rd pick in 1984 by the Braves. Tom pitched for 22 yrs in the majors with the Atlanta Braves 1987-2002 & 2008 and the Mets 2003-2007.Was a 10x All-Star, won the National League CY Young award 1991 & 1998, the 1995 World Series MVP. Tom finished his pitching career with a record of 305-203, and pitched 56 complete games, 25 shutouts and had 2607 strikeouts
Vinny Castillo, 8x10. Vinny spent 3 years playing in Mexico before signing as a free agent in 1990 with the Atlanta Braves and had brief stints in the majors with the Braves in 1991 and 1992. Vinny was drafted by the Rockies in 1992 as part of the expansion draft when the Rockies came into existence was then traded to the Devil Rays in 1999, then bounced around with the Astros, Braves, Rockies twice, Nationals and Padres before retiring at the end of the 2006 season with the Rockies. Vinny was a 2x All-Star 1995 & 1998 and 3x Silver Slugger award winner. He finished his career with 320 homer runs, 1105 RBI's
Bobby Abreu, 8x10. Bobby signed as a free agent in 1990 by the Astros and had an 18 yr major league career. Astros 1996 & 1997, Phillies 1998-2006, Yankees 2006-2008, Angels 2009-2012, Dodgers remainder of the 2012 season and the Mets in 2014. Bobby played all 3 Outfield postions during his career as well as a DH. Bobby was a 2x All-Star 2004 and 2005, Gold Glove winner 2005 and Silver Slugger in 2004. Bobby finished his career with 288 homer runs, 1363 RBI's and a career Batting average of 0.291
Russ Ortiz, 8x10. Russ was a 4th td pick in 1995 by the Giants and pitched in the majors for 12 yrs with the Giants 1998-2002 & 2007, Braves 2003-2004, D-Backs 2005-2006, Orioles 2006, Astros 2009 and Dodgers 2010. Russ was an All-Star in 2003. Russ finished his with a record of 113-89, 9 complete games, 3 shutouts and an ERA of 4.51
John Franco, 8x10. John was a 5th rd pick in 1981 by the Dodfers and pitched 21 yrs in the majors with the Reds 1984-1989, Mets 1990-2004 and Astros 2005. John was a 4x All-Star and was a 2x Nationals League Rolaids Relief award that is given to the top reliever in each league. John finished with a record of 90-87, 424 saves, 975 strikeouts and a 2.89 ERA
Charles Johnson, SS OMLB. Charles was a 1st rd pick in 1992 by the Marlins, 28th overall. Charles caught in the majors for 12 yrs with the Marlins 1994-1998 & 2001-2002, Dodgers 1998, Orioles 1999-2000, White Sox 2000, Rockies 2003-2004 and Rays 2005. Charles was a 2x All-Star and a 4x Gold Glove award winner as a catcher
Roy Oswalt, 1 card. Roy was a 23rd rd pick in 1996 by the Astros and pitched in 13 seasons in the majors with the Astros 2001-2010, Phillies 2010-2011, Rangers 2012 and Rockies 2013. Roy with a record of 163-102, 20 complete games, 8 shutouts and a 3.36 ERA. His best season in 2004 with a 20-10 record. Roy was a 3x All-Star and won the 2005 NL NLCS MVP.
Jack Wilson, 2 cards. Jack was a 9th rd pick in 1998 by the Cardinals and 12 yrs in the majors with the Pirates 2001-2009, Mariners 2009-2011 and Braves 2011-2012. Jack was an All-Star in 2004 and a Silver Slugger 2004
Aaron Rowand,. 1 card. Aaron was a 1st rd pick in 1998 by the White Sox, 35th overall and played the Outfield for 11 yrs with the White Sox 2001-2005, Phillies 2006-2007and the Giants 2008-2011. Aaron was an All-Star and Gold Glove winner in 2007
Eddie Taubensee, 1 card. Ed was a 6th rd pick in 1986 by the Reds and played in 11 seasons with the Indians 1991 & 2001, Astros 1992-1994, Reds 1994-2000.
Steve Woodard, 1 card . Steve was a 5th rd pick in 1994 by the Brewers. Steve pitched in 7 seasons with the Brewers 1997-2000, Indians 2000-2001, Rangers 2002 and Red Sox 2003
Brady Anderson, 1 card. Brady was a 10th rd pick in 1985 by the Red Sox and played 15 yrs in the majors with the Red Sox 1988, Orioles 1988-2001 and Indians 2002. Brady was a 3x All-Star
Greg Cadaret, 2 cards. Greg was a 11th rd pick in 1983 by the A's and pitched in 10 seasons in the majors with the A's 1987-1989, Yankees 1989-1992, Reds 1993, Royals 1993, Jays 1994, Tigers 1994, Angels 1997-1998 and Rangers 1998
Kerry Robinson, 2 cards. Kerry was a 34th rd pick in 1995 by the Cardinals and played parts of 7 seasons in the majors with the Rays 1998, Reds 1999, Cardinals 2001-2003, Padres 2004 and Royals 2006
Travis Fryman, 1 card. Travis was a 1st rd pick in 1987 by the Tigers, 30th overall and played in 13 seasons with the Tigers, 1990-1987 and the Indians 1999-2002. Travis was a 5x All-Star, the Silver Slugger in 1992 and won the Gold Glove in 2000. Currently Travis is the manager of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers who are the short season A ball affiliate of the Indians
Bob Dernier, Generic Sweet Spot card. Bob signed as a free agent in 1977 by the Phillies and played 10 yrs in the majors with the Phillies 1980-1983 & 1988-1989 and Cubs 1984-1987. Bob won the Gold Glove in the outfield in 1984
Jim Eisenreich, Generic Sweet Spot card. Jim was a 16th rd pick in 1980 by the Twins and played 18 seasons in the majors with the Twins 1982-1984, then did not play during the 1985-1986 seasons due to health issues, then came back with the Royals 1987-1992,  Phillies 1993-1996, Marlins 1997-1998 and Dodgers 1998
Phil Niekro (Knucksie) , HOF Plaque Card. Phil signed as a free agent in 1958 with the Milwaukee Braves and pitched for 24 yrs in the majors with the Braves 1964-1983 and 1987, Yankees 1984-1985, Indians 1986-1987, Jays 1987. Phil was a 5x All-Star, 5x Gold Glove award winner and finished with a record of 318-274, 245 complete games, 45 shutouts, 29 saves, 3342 strikeouts and a 3.35 ERA. Phil  was well known for throwing a knuckle ball and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997. Phil's brother, Joe also pitched for 22 seasons in the majors and his nephew Lance played 4 seasons in the majors.
Rollie Fingers HOF Plaque Card. Rollie signed as a free agent in 1964 with the Kansas City A's and pitched for 17 seasons in the majors with the A's 1968-1976, Padres 1977-1980 and Brewers 1981-1985. Rollie was a 7x All-Star, 3x National League Rolaids Relief Award, 1x in the American League.Also won the 1974 World Series MVP, 1981 American League Cy Young Award and the 1981 American League MVP. Rollie was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992. Rollie was also known for his handle bar mustache which he still has today
Ozzie Smith (Wizard of Oz), 8x10. Ozzie was 4th rd pick in 1977 by the Padres and spent 19 seasons in the majors with the Padres 1978-1981 and the Cardinals 1982-1966. Ozzie was a 15x All-Star at shortstop, a 13x Gold Glove winner and won the 1985 NCLS MVP. Ozzie was not known for his hitting and more fore his slick fielding and doing backflips on the field. Ozzie did have 580 stolen bases.














My final count while in Cooperstown is 27 auto's and I got 5 out of the 6 HOFer's. The only one I missed was Tony Perez who did not sign as often as the others and did not Golf.
