Savannah Sand Gnats @ Lakewood Blueclaws....

On Saturday after the Rodney Hampton appearance I headed down the Jersey Shore to Lakewood NJ. Lakewood is the mid level A ball affiliate of the Phillies. The Mets A ball team, the Sand Gnats made there only road trip up this far north for a a 3 game series.
The 2014 Sand Gnats are basically the 2013 Cyclones with a few additions. The biggest player on the Gnats is 2013 1st round pick, Dominic Smith. He spent time 2013 in Kingsport after signing with the Mets and skipped Brooklyn this year.
Also on the Gnats is Long Island product, John Mincone. Its always great to see a Long Islander play has a pro. John pitched pretty well. He finnshed the game up for the Gnats pitching an 1 1/3 innings.
I was able to get Dominic on 4 cards. He is a real nice kid and signed for everyone.
Since I already had most of the Sand Gnats. I only got auto's from the players that have cards.
Jared King, 3 cards. Was the Mets 5th rd pick in 2013.
Gavin Cecchini, 2 cards. Gavin was the Mets 2012 1st rd pick
Marc Valdes, 2 cards. Marc is currently the Gnats pitching coach. He was a 1st rd pick in 1993 by the Marlins. He pitched in parts of 6 years in the majors with the Marlins, Expos, Astros and Braves. He also pitched in the Rays and Yankees system. Marc also spent 3 seasons in Japan.

The Sand Gnats lost the game and just as I went out to the BlueClaws parking lot after the game a thunderstorm started and decided to head home.
The BlueClaws have 2013 1st rd pick J.P. Crawford who I was hoping to get. Lakewood is only about a 2 hr drive. So, I will be heading back.

My next outing will probably be a Ducks game at the end of the week.  The Ducks home opener is May 2nd.

Thanks for Reading and Check Back soon
