Game 27. This was the 3rd and final game of the series before the Ducks go on a 9 game roads trip. It was also supposed to be a match up of 2 former major league pitchers. Dontrelle Willis vs. Brett Tomko. Today was also the typical pre-game autograph session that the Ducks have every sunday. While waiting online for the session to start. Some of us noticed that the starting pitcher being shown on the scoreboard for the Ducks was not Dontrelle Willis and there was not a chair set aside for him either on the field like there alway is next Buddy for the autograph session. Sometime after the session was over word started to spread around the stadium that Dontrelle had been signed minutes before the gates opened by the Los Angles Angels of Anaheim and was to report to there AAA affiliate in Salt Lake City. It was first reported on the Ducks Twitter. Below is a link to the Angels MLB site.http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130804&content_id=55869208¬ebook_id=55899198&vkey=notebook_ana&c_id=ana.
I was a little suprised that a pitcher was signed so late in the season. But, just realized the the Buzz are in 1st place by 4 games and there roster does not have much depth. Dontrelle is a 9 year Big League Veteren. The Buzz have a little more than 4 weeks left in the regular season before the playoffs start. I'm guessing Dontrelle will get atleast 4 starts and the hopefully help the team advance thru the playoffs.
Dontrelle hung around for the game to watch the Ducks come from behind and win.
As of today, I think I will hit the Cyclones on Friday night and I'm thinking of hitting the Trenton Thunder on Saturday. The Thunder are player the Akron Aeroes who have Indians prospect Francisco Lindor. The Yankees have also recently promoted catching prospect Gary Sanchez from Tampa.
Thanks for Looking and Check Back Soon!!

In the dugout during the game.
During the session I was able to get the following:
Ryan Strieby, 2 cards. Ryan was a 4th rd pick of the Tigers in 2006 and played 7 years in the minors with the Tigers and D-Backs system getting as high as AAA. I have to say one thing surprised me today. He is the first Ducks player not to sign all of the cards I had for a player. He signed 2 out 3 for me today. I guess that was better then none. I'm sure I will get the last one signed before the end of the season.
Erick Threets, 3 cards. Erick was a 7th rd pick in 2000 by the Giants and has pitched in 21 games in total during 3 brief stints with the Giants in 2007-2008 and the White Sox in 2010. He has also pitched in the Dodgers and A's system.
Jared Lansford, 1 card. Jared was a 2nd rd pick in 2005 by the A's and has pitched as high as AAA. Jared comes from a family of ball players. His brother Josh also pitches for the Ducks and his father, Carney Lansford is a 15 year major league veteren and was an All-Star in 1988 and was part of the A's team in 1989 that won the World Series.
Ian Snell, 2 cards
Bill Murphy, 2 cards
Adam Bailey, 2 cards
Josh Barfield, 1 card
Bill Hall, 1 card
James Houser, 2 cards
Kevin Baez, 1 card. Kevin is currently the Ducks Manager
After today I'm pretty much done with cards for the Ducks as far as the current roster goes. But, I'm still waiting on Daniel Herrera cards to come in. I've also taken some great pictures in the last couple of days of players who do not have any or very little cards.
But anyone familiar with the Atlantic League, knows that the rosters change often and with the Willis signing. I'm sure that the Ducks GM, Michael Pfaff is working the phones to get more pitching depth.
Atleast I hope he is. The Ducks will need the pitching depth if they want to make the playoffs and defend the championship.
After the autograph session I headed over to the York side. I had a few more cards for Mark Teahen and Brett Tomko. With Tomko started I didn't even ask. I also had extra's for Andy Marte. But, he was also signed by the Angels and was not with the team.
I did get those last cards signed by Teahen.
I have Snell, Barfield, Murphy and Teahen cards available for trade. Just email me and I'm sure we can work out something. As of today, I think I will hit the Cyclones on Friday night and I'm thinking of hitting the Trenton Thunder on Saturday.
