Sugar Land Skeeters @ LI Ducks

Last night the expansion team Sugar Land Skeeter are on town to play the Ducks. The Skeeters are from Texas, not from Houston. Sounds abit odd that a team from Texas is playing on the Atlantic League. From what I understand the plan is to have a 4 team division in Texas. The Skeeters are drawing very well with the average attendance at around 6,751.
For a night of Atlantic League graphing it was not a bad night. The manager of the Skeeters is former Big League player Gary Gaetti. A 20 yr vet who had played for 6 different teams. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gaettga01.shtml. Gary in my opinion is the only player/coach in the league worthy of of signing a OMLB. Gary was a signing machine last night.I would say he signed 40-50 autographs. Including my OMLB on the SS. Although he did turn us down as he walked to the bus after the game. But, I do not blame him. Some guy handed him a board with 15 cards. He asked Gary to sign what he wanted and he signed every card. I would never even think of putting more than 4 cards on a board for one player.

The other Skeeters I got were the following,
Bobby Livingston, 2 cards. Bobby has pitched in the Bigs with the Mariners and Reds. He has also pitched in the Mets, O's, Rays, Pirates and Dodgers systems.
Jason Lane 1/2 cards. Jason has played in the Bigs with the Astros and Padreas. He has also played in the Yanks, Redsox, Jays, Marlins and most recently the D-Backs system. To my surprise he was the starting pitcher for the Skeeters. I was not even aware he was a pitcher.
Heath Phillips, 1 card. Heath pitched for the White Sox in the Bigs and has also pitched in the Phillies, Yanks, Rays and Royals systems.
Gary Majewski, 1 card. Gary has pitched in the Bigs with the Expos, Nats, Astros and Reds. He has also pitched in the White Sox, Dodgers and Phillies systems.
Ocatavio Martinez, 1 card. Octavio has been a catcher in the O's, Pirates and Dodgers system
Dustin Richardson, 1 card. Dustin has pitched in the Red Sox, Marlins and Braves system.
Luis Figueroa, 1 card. He has played in the Bigs with the Pirates, Jays and Giants and has also been in the Expos, Dodgers, Brewers and most recently the Mets system.
Britt Burns, 3 cards. Britt pitched in the Bigs from 1978-1985 with the White Sox. He is he Skeeters pitching coach.
The Ducks always have 1 player in the Autograph booth before the game and today was
Eric Niesen, 1 card. Eric pitched in the Mets system

A couple of side notes. There has been reports that former Big League pitcher Scott Kazmir is to sign with the Skeeters. I asked Octavio Martinez about it and he said the Scott has been working out in Texas and is expected to sign with the Skeeters soon. The read the story about 2 weeks ago. So, I'm not sure what "soon" means.
Just before I left for the game, I received a FB message from a friend who had been to the Ducks game the night before. Former Met Timo Perez was in the dugout during the game and he was in the dugout again last night. The word around the stadium is he is waiting on a working visa in order to be added to the roster and play.
Tonight, if the weather holds up. I'm head to Brooklyn so see the Cyclones (Mets SS A) vs. Aberdeen Ironbirds (O's) . The Cyclones have 2011 1st Rounder Brandon Nimmo and 2012 1st CA Rounder Kevin Plawecki.
