2020 baseball season andl Minor League Contraction......????

As time goes on it seems more and more likely that there will not be baseball in 2020 because of Corona.
Although reports as recently as today that MLB is talking about playing the season in Arizona at spring training sites and possibly at Chase Field without is the fans. There are 8 current spring training sites in and around Phoenix and a handful of former spring training sites in the area and then there is also Tucson which used to be the home of the D-Backs and White Sox that I can see being used.

Spring Training is the home of 15 teams at 8 sites. Now there talking about having all 30 teams play at those sites. Each team has roughly 40 player and personal if not more. So, there roughly 1,200 people amongst the 30 teams at the major league level. Which, I guess is doable.  Considering the area accommodates roughly 2,000 people during spring training.

Next question is what about the minor leaguers. Is there a minor league season? Each organization has roughly 130 players, times 30, equates to roughly 3,900 players, plus the roughly 1,200 at the major league level That's more then 2 times the amount of people that would need to be accommodated then normal in the area for spring training.

My guess is there will be no minor league season.

Which then leads me to my next question, Minor League Contraction.
Reports were that minor league contraction was set to happen in 2021. Do they move on with these plans or push back contraction another year?
42 teams were set to be cut. A number of other teams were going to change classifications and a few independent league teams were set to become affiliated.

Do those 42 teams just disappear, no fanfare or anything?

How would contraction effect you? For me I would lose the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, I typically go to 2 to 3 games per season in Binghamton. 2 of those games have been part of my Memorial Day Weekend trip for the last 8 years. Binghamton is currently the Mets AA affiliates.
The Brooklyn Cyclones which are currently a Short Season affiliate of the Mets are set to become the Mets AA affiliate. In past years Ive been averaging 10 to 12 games per season.
Not sure how many of you have been to Brooklyn for a game? MCU Park is Not sure I would be going to games in Brooklyn in April. Homeplate is about 350 yards from the Atlantic Ocean. 30 to 40 mph winds off the ocean will make it brutal to sit for a game.
Would April ball in Brooklyn be worse then playing April ball in Binghamton, Portland Maine or Manchester New Hampshire?

Next, I would lose the Staten Island Yankees. This wouldn't effect me as much.

If MLB does play in Arizona we do get to watch baseball on tv. But, you all know that is not the same as going to a game.

I guess we will find out soon, what will happen to the 2020 season.

Thanks for Reading. Stay Home, Safe and Healthy
